Congratulations to Professor Amadi Ogonda Ihunwo who has been appointed as Head of School for Anatomical Sciences

Professor Amadi Ogonda Ihunwo is a Professor of Anatomy and a Neuroscientist at the School of Anatomical Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He joined the School and Wits University in
May 2005 as a Senior Lecturer and subsequently rose to a Full Professor. His research area is Comparative Adult Neurogenesis and Gliogenesis; looking at the generation of new cells in the adult brain in mammalian and avian species and the factors that affect the process at different life stages. He has supervised and graduated several postgraduate students. He has several publications in Department of Higher Education (DoHE) accredited journals. While his tenure as the Secretary-General of the Society of Neuroscientist of Africa (SONA) ends this year, 2021, he was re-elected as a Councillor, representing Africa on the Council of the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN,2021 – 2025). Professor Ihunwo is a Visiting Neuroscientist at the Brain and Mind Institute, Aga Khan University, Nairobi, Kenya.
